The Society was formed in 1947 and is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society. The Society's aims are to:

  • Promote the appreciation of gardens.
  • Arrange lectures on horticultural subjects.
  • Provide advice and discussion.
  • Arrange visits to notable gardens.

    Social Events

     
    social event The Society holds two social events each year - a coffee morning (held during the summer in a member’s garden) and a Winter Dinner, held during the first week in December in Haslemere.

    Lectures

     
    Six talks are given annually by visiting speakers in the Catholic Church Hall in Weydown Road. They are held during the months of February, March, April, September, October and November. The lectures start at 7.45pm and are followed by a discussion period over tea and coffee.

    Outings

     
    garden scene-2 We arrange three outings during the summer months. The outings usually take the form of a morning and afternoon visit to two interesting gardens. Occasional visits are arranged to venues following lectures attended by members.
