The Society was formed in 1947 and is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society. The Society's aims are to:

  • Promote the appreciation of gardens.
  • Arrange lectures on horticultural subjects.
  • Provide advice and discussion.
  • Arrange visits to notable gardens.


    Social Events

    social event The Society holds two social events each year - a coffee morning (held during the summer in a member’s garden) and a Winter Dinner, held during the first week in December in Haslemere.

    Six talks are given annually by visiting speakers The talks are given in the Church Hall, Our Lady Of Lourdes, 21 Derby Road, Haslemere, Surrey (GU27 1BS). The entrance is from Weydown Road. They start at 7.45 pm and end around 9.15 pm. They are held during the months of February, March, April, September, October and November. The events are free to members and just £2 to very welcome visitors. The lectures start at 7.45pm and are followed by a discussion period over tea and coffee.

    garden scene-2 We arrange three outings during the summer months. The outings usually take the form of a morning and afternoon visit to two interesting gardens.
    Occasional visits are arranged to venues following lectures attended by members. Booking forms are available on this website under "Events".
