The Society was formed in 1947 and is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.

The Society's aims are to:

  • Promote the appreciation of gardens.
  • Arrange lectures on horticultural subjects.
  • Provide advice and discussion.
  • Arrange visits to notable gardens.

    Lectures

     
    social event Six talks are given annually by visiting speakers. They are held during the months of February, March, April, September, October and November.
    The talks are given in the Church Hall, Our Lady Of Lourdes, 21 Derby Road, Haslemere, Surrey (GU27 1BS). The entrance is from Weydown Road.
    They start at 7.45pm and end around 9.15pm followed by a discussion period over tea and coffee.
    The talks are free to members.

    Vistors are very welcome for an entrance fee of just £2.

    Outings

     
    social event
    We arrange three outings during the summer months. The outings usually take the form of a morning and afternoon visit to two interesting gardens.
    Occasional visits are arranged to venues following lectures attended by members.

    social event The Society holds two social events each year - a coffee morning (held during the summer in a member’s garden) and a Winter Dinner, held during the first week in December in Haslemere.
